What this is, and what it isn't

These are researched stories about businesses, written to be read. They are not advice, they are not authorised biographies, and the illustrations are not photographs.

1. Not advice

Nothing published by The Morning Founder is financial, investment, business, tax, legal or career advice, and none of it is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything. I am not a licensed financial adviser and I am not regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore or by any equivalent body elsewhere.

A story about a founder who bet everything on one decision is a story about what happened, not a suggestion that you do the same. Survivorship bias is the occupational hazard of this entire genre: the companies that made the identical decision and died do not get written about, here or anywhere. Read accordingly.

2. How the stories are put together

Each story is reconstructed from public sources — company filings, contemporaneous news reports, interviews, books, and archival material. Every claim is checked before publication, twice, against at least two sources, with names, dates, figures and any superlative checked hardest.

Even so: sources disagree, memories are unreliable, founders round their own numbers, and early company history is often documented years after the fact by people with an interest in how it reads. Where accounts conflict I say so in the story rather than picking the better line. Where I get something wrong, it goes on the corrections page with the date. If you have first-hand knowledge that something here is wrong, please tell me — that correction is worth more than the original error cost.

3. Dialogue and reconstruction

Quotations are taken from the record. Where a story describes what someone was thinking or how a room felt, that is drawn from what that person has said publicly about it, and it is written to be readable rather than invented for drama. I do not make up dialogue.

4. The illustrations are AI-generated

Every story has a watercolour made for it. Those images are generated with AI from source photographs, then selected by hand. Nobody sits down with brushes and paper.

They are illustrations, not documentary images. A watercolour of a founder is an impression of a person, not a photograph of them, and should not be treated as a record of what anyone or anything actually looked like. Details in the images — signage, background objects, faces of people other than the subject — are not evidence of anything and are frequently wrong. The text is the reporting. The image is decoration for it.

5. No affiliation

The Morning Founder is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or authorised by any company, founder, family or estate written about. Nobody covered here reviews a story before it is published, and nobody has the right to. Company and product names belong to their owners and are used for identification and commentary.

6. Sponsorship and money

Sponsored placements are labelled as sponsored, every time. Sponsors cannot buy a story, cannot see one early, and cannot influence what is written. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed here and in the newsletter before it happens, not after.

Where a link earns a commission, it is marked. As of 2 August 2026 there are no affiliate links anywhere in this publication.

8. Opinion

The interpretation in each story — why a decision worked, what it says about the business — is my reading of the evidence, and it is offered as that. Reasonable people who know these companies will disagree with some of it. That is the interesting part, and support@reallycreativeideas.com is open.
